DIY: Wrapping a Roof Box

We’ve got a rather small car for all the sports and travelling we do.   My husband found a roof box on gumtree, but it was a dismal, boring grey… we had quite a few stickers but not quite enough to cover the entire box.  The next best solution- A vinyl wrap!  We picked up a roll from eBay.

As the box had a few severe angles and curves we cut the sheet into panels to fit each large surface area.

We heated the vinyl with a heat-gun (you can find them on amazon or Ebay for around £10) which affixed it to the surface and also helped it to stretch and mould around the curves.

We used a hard-edged squeegee from a screen-printing kit to smooth out air-bubbles and make the neat edges you see in the creases of the box curve, but you can probably use a credit-card or other hard-edged plastic too.

The ‘stickers’ are based off of some wicked old collectables from classic brands, but to keep it personal we added a few quality stickers of our own.  You can always update and add without it looking bare.

What do you think!? Will you try a project like this of your own? What would you wrap?
